Space Challenge
   
 

NASA is looking for ways to get elementary students interested in space.  You have been chosen to represent your school in this space challenge from NASA.  It is your job to discover and present information about our solar system and the Americans who have traveled in it.

 
     

 

TASK ONE:  
 

Your first job is to collect data about your planet and make a PowerPoint presentation. The following is the information that you will need to include in your presentation: 

 
     
 

Slide 1:  Title slide (Include the name of your planet, your name & your teacher’s name)
 

Slide 2:  Namesake (Who is your planet named after?) 
 

Slide 3:  Distance from the Sun (How many miles or              kilometers?) and   Diameter (What is the distance across  your planet?) 
 

Slide 4:  Period of revolution (How long is one year on your planet in Earth years?) and  rotation period (One day on your planet equals how many hours/days on Earth?) 
 

Slide 5:  Satellites- moons (How many? What are their names?) 

Slide 6:  Atmosphere (What gases are in the atmosphere?) and Temperature (How hot or cold is it?) 


Slide 7: Composition (What is your planet made of?) 


Slide 8: Other interesting facts (Special features. Does it have volcanoes, craters, rings, valley, etc..?)

You will be exploring an astronaut. The following are the astronauts that you can pick from. Only pick one astronaut to do your research.

Once you have chosen your astronaut you are to find out the following and include it in a Kidspiration presentation: 

1. Where and when was your astronaut born? 
2. What missions did your astronaut go on? 
3. What was the name of the shuttle(s) your astronaut has been on? 
4. How long have they been an astronaut? 
5. Is your astronaut famous for doing anything while being an astronaut? 
6. What made your astronaut want to become an astronaut? 
7. What kind of education does your astronaut have? 
8. Is your astronaut still alive? If not when did he/she die?
