RTI is the practice of providing high quality instruction matched to student needs. The instructional model indicates by improving classroom instruction through differentiating instruction and the use of different strategies, all students can be successful.
RTI creates a high quality of education that focuses on the success of all students. This is achieved through collaboration of general and special educators. Data driven research-based instruction, modified instruction, collaboration with educators, and progress monitoring students are the key elements for the success of RTI.
RTI provides a 3 Tier Model. Tier 1 – All students receive instruction which teachers take into account, by using the best teaching strategies, for students to reach their potential. Tier 2 – A group of students who need additional help receives interventions in small groups, they are progress monitored, and may receive one-to-one assistance at this level. Tier 3 – The student will receive more intensive help. They will receive one-to-one assistance, the use of strategies to better accommodate deficits, and progress monitoring will occur more frequent.
