I had an amazing time during the Springfield field trip on April 11th. We had the opportunity to visit many historical sites and learn about the life of Abraham Lincoln, one of the most iconic American presidents. Seeing the Lincoln Home National Historic Site was a highlight of the trip, as we were able to see firsthand where Lincoln lived and worked. We also visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, where we saw artifacts and exhibits that provided a deeper understanding of his life and legacy. All in all, it was a truly educational and enlightening experience, and I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to learn about such an important figure in American history.

The student council members at Rickover Junior High played a crucial role in the success of Career Day by volunteering to serve as escorts for the event. They were responsible for guiding the speakers to their respective classrooms and ensuring that everything ran smoothly throughout the day. The student council members performed their duties with great enthusiasm and professionalism, impressing both the speakers and the school administration. Their involvement helped to create a positive and welcoming environment for everyone involved, and contributed to the overall success of the event. The school administration expressed their gratitude for the student council members' efforts and acknowledged their important role in making Career Day a success.

Students were not only able to learn about various career options, but they were also given the opportunity to interact with animals that provide emotional support to their owners. The animals were well-behaved and seemed to enjoy the attention they received from the students. Many students found that spending time with the animals helped to alleviate any stress or anxiety they may have been feeling during the event. Overall, the presence of emotional support animals added an extra layer of comfort and enjoyment to an already successful Career Day.

Rickover Junior High recently hosted a Career Day that was a resounding success. Students had the opportunity to interact with professionals from different fields and learn about various career paths. The event was highly informative and engaging, with the students showing great enthusiasm and interest in the presentations. The speakers were impressed by the level of curiosity exhibited by the students and were happy to share their experiences and insights. Overall, it was a great day for everyone involved and a valuable learning experience for the students.

RJHS kicked off IAR testing with a pep rally that honored 8th graders who excelled on the high school placement test and those students who met the IAR goal of 750 last year on math and/or reading.

On Valentine's Day at Rickover Junior High, love was in the air. Rickover had a wonderful day. Love still lives at Rickover Junior High!!

Join us for the Black History Celebration on Feb 29th at 5 PM! Dr. Kimbrough has a another creative idea for this year's program.

At Rickover Junior High, mediation resolves conflicts between students, including bullying. Students are provided a safe and confidential environment for constructive conversations that reduce disciplinary incidents and promote respect. Students learn healthy communication and conflict resolution skills that benefit them throughout their lives.

Mrs. Gist, the aviation club sponsor, arranged for Captain Devin Fuller, a private pilot with experience working alongside celebrities like Mary J. Blige, Layla Ali, and President Biden, to speak to our students at Rickover Junior High School. The objective was to spark students' interest in aviation careers and provide them with exposure to professionals in the field.

The honors assembly at Rickover Junior High was a remarkable event that left a lasting impression on all who attended. Witnessing so many bright students being recognized for their accomplishments was truly inspiring and a testament to the school's commitment to academic excellence.

Close to 70 students participated in the Black Science Cafe at the Museum of Science and Industry. Students qualified for the field trip by meeting one or more of the following criteria: perfect attendance, inclusion in the quarter 2 honor roll, and/or demonstrating good behavior. At Rickover Junior High School, we strongly believe in the power of exposure to open doors of opportunity. Therefore, we strive to provide our students with valuable field experiences.

The PPS team organized a scavenger hunt in honor of Kindness Week. Congratulations to our scavenger hunt winners: Kaesey Pearson from 6th grade and Eriohn Miller from 7th grade!
